Thanks to all for the Advice

Thank you to all you have sent comments, I will be going to get another opinion for Scrappy this week. He seems better than Christmas morning, but still tends to drag that one back leg and when he sits it slips out from beneath him. When looking at him you can see that he has a very tight muscle. I praying it is not his back but preferrably his hip. I would much not have there be nothing wrong with him at all. I will keep you all posted as to how the vet visit for the 2nd opinion goes.

PLEASE is anyone knows any good surgeon for Dachsies here in the Appleton/Green Bay area Wisconsin please blog me.

Thank you and God Bless-

Krista, Scrappy, and Bailey

We wish we could help you find a good surgeon but we don't know any up in that area. We have a vet school (Texas A&M) near us. Is there anything like that near you? If anyone is on the leading edge of vet technology, it is a large vet school.

Still sending healing dachsie thoughts to you!

I will second the vet school sugestion.

We have had 2 done at the school in Columbia, MO. Both were a total success. (And one was very iffy from the start)

Not only do they perform excellent work at the schools, but they have 2 really good things going for them.

One, they are normally cheaper. The care is provided by students who are doing the work for their degree. So the day to day charges are pretty low (compared to a Vet Hospital).

Two, the care is provided by students. And this means they still care about every animal they see. You little guy will get as much love and care there as he will at home. Once you meet the students you will feel at ease that they really are doing everything they can.

So check the state colleges and universities within 100 miles of your house and see who has a Veterinary Program.
